A Mansion on a Hilltop.....
Day four in North Carolina brought us to the Biltmore Estate....A mansion built in 1865 by George VanderBilt. The Biltmore is the largest home in the United States. It features 4 acres of floor space, 250 rooms, 34 bedrooms, 43 bathrooms, and 65 fireplaces. The basement has a swimming pool, gymnasium and changing rooms, bowling alley, servants' quarters, kitchens, and more....It was incredible and very interesting. It took a full 2 hours to tour the home alone. The grounds also feature incredible gardens, a farm, a winery, and endless trails and land to explore. On our way back to Hendersonville we took a drive to Black Mountain and discovered a little town called Montreat.....There we uncovered a little park where we spent a few hours looking for treasures while hopping rocks in the stream......It was a great day!
